The coordinator performs operations and security functions under the direction of the Operations Manager, following established guidelines and procedures to ensure safe and efficient airport operations.
- Performs inspections of the Air Operations Area (AOA) to ensure compliance with FAR Parts 139 and CFR Part 1542.
- Issues runway condition reports and other NOTAMs as required to ensure safe and efficient airport operations.
- Inspects security access equipment, doors, windows, fencing, and gates; reports irregularities.
- Ensures compliance with the Airport Certification Manual, including Emergency Plan, Vehicle Access Plan, Snow Removal, Pedestrian and Ground Vehicles, Rules and Regulations, and Security Program.
- Assists in coordination and monitoring of construction activity on the airport.
- Assists in snow removal operations, aircraft salvage, and operational emergencies with airlines, tenants, operators, and outside agencies.
- Monitors the Glycol Containment System according to Best Management Practices guidelines.
- Ensures compliance with CFR Part 1542 regarding access and identification within the Security Identification Display Area (SIDA).
- Records and reports incidents such as property damage, personal injury claims, unusual occurrences, irregular operations, and equipment malfunctions.
- Assists with enforcing noise abatement regulations by receiving and logging noise complaints.
- Patrols buildings and landside grounds, including public and lease‑hold areas, rent‑a‑car lots, and terminal roadways to ensure safety, security, and cleanliness.
- Enforces the Airport’s Security Program.
- Ensures compliance with the Airport Certification Manual and Rules and Regulations.
- Acts as liaison between airport tenants and maintenance departments; inputs work orders for terminal maintenance.
- Performs customer service tasks such as providing directions, maintaining a lost‑and‑found department, posting notices, and making deliveries.
- Reports irregularities such as fire hazards, building code violations, and unlocked security doors.
- Advises Operations Supervisor of alarms and assists with notifying police or fire department as needed.
- Participates in Total Quality Management programs, goal setting, and performance appraisals.
- Navigating and using the operating system (e.g., Windows, Microsoft Office).
- Using and managing files and folders.
- Creating, editing, and formatting documents (e.g., Word Docs).
- Meet or exceed required security training and performance criteria as mandated in the Federal Approved Airport Security Plan.

An associate’s degree or higher is preferred, and experience in airport or airline operations is desirable. Proficiency with computer operating systems, file management, and Microsoft Office applications is required.
The position requires regular standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds, as well as the ability to see clearly at various distances and perceive colors and depth.
The work environment includes exposure to aircraft traffic, vehicle movement, fumes, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions, with generally loud noise levels on the airfield.
- Associates Degree or higher preferred.
- Experience in airport and/or airline operations work preferred; proficiency with computer hardware and peripherals.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak English fluently.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
- Must be able to pass company test pertaining to Federal Aviation Regulation Part 139 on an annual basis.
- Must possess a valid New York State Driver’s License as a condition of employment.
- Must be able to obtain a NYS Security Guard License upon employment.
