The role is responsible for staying current with ANZ national grid technical requirements, challenges, and National Electricity rules that affect new customer power connections. The incumbent must provide regular updates to management on upcoming technology and rule changes, identify gaps, and perform risk‑versus‑opportunity analyses. They will assess and advise on the impact of emerging technologies such as data centres, HVDC, BESS, and EV‑infrastructure integration. Participation in pre‑sales processes to understand customer business objectives, technical goals, and project requirements is required. Understanding customer pain points and actively engaging to deliver solutions forms a core part of the job.
Collaboration with product management, commercial sales teams, and external partners is essential to engage customers, apply solutions, and produce technical and commercial proposal content. Candidates should have at least three years of experience in the utility or energy sector, preferably working with AEMO or NSP on grid‑connection inquiries. A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, strong leadership and relationship‑management skills, and high‑level familiarity with power‑system modelling software (e.g., PSCAD, PSS E) are required, although hands‑on modelling is not essential.
