- Collaborate with field teams to improve asset performance and resilience.
- Design pre-emptive solutions and contingency protocols for high-risk failure points.
- Lead post-incident reviews on the containment plan and response.
- Establish clear lines of communication and authority across teams and stakeholders.
- Drive efficient and timely deployment of resources to prevent pollution/compliance issues alongside mobilising containment in line with the demand.
- Ensure plans are regularly tested, updated, and aligned with regulatory standards
- Develop and implement pollution prevention strategies and action plans based on learnings and risk scanning.
- Liaise with Logistics to ensure an up-to-date inventory of containment resources (e.g., booms, pumps, absorbents) and their locations.
- Coordinate rapid deployment of internal and external resources, including contractors and emergency services.
- Monitor containment progress and adjust tactics in real time to meet the 4-hour target.
- Conduct risk assessments and scenario planning to identify vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure all personnel involved in response are trained and briefed on containment protocols.
- React swiftly to emerging blockers (e.g., weather, site access, equipment failure).
- Ensure all contractor resource is compliant, and risk is closed out before leaving site.
- Provide timely updates and post-incident reports to internal leadership and regulators.
- Monitor and report on pollution metrics, trends, and outcomes. Enabling situation awareness towards escalation and de-escalation triggers and documents.
- Champion innovation in pollution response technologies and methods.
- Maintain a log of blockers and resolutions to inform future planning.
- Liaise with Nova Team, PCL’s and field resources during and after incidents.
- Integrate lessons learned into future containment strategies.
- Leverage historical incident data and personal experience to anticipate likely blockers (e.g., access issues, equipment failure, resource delays).
- Risk Scanning and Early Intervention: Using insight from other roles horizon scan early to provide mitigation options.
- Develop and maintain rapid-response containment plans tailored to various pollution scenarios and sites
- Ensure transparency and accountability in all response activities
- Maintain a dynamic decision matrix to guide real-time prioritisation.
- Act as the Incident Lead for Containment during pollution events, directing all onsite and offsite activities.
- Escalate issues appropriately and activate backup plans without delay.
- Ensure contractor resource onsite is compliant from log on to log off to prevent pollution alongside ensure cleanups and mitigation are completed quickly closing out all the risks.

- Performance Tracking: Experience in tracking all initiated interventions to ensure completion and effectiveness, and maintaining an audit trail of actions taken and outcomes
- Data Integration: The ability to integrate multiple data sources (e.g., SCADA, weather, asset condition, customer calls) to build a comprehensive risk picture.
- Proactive Intervention: Skills in developing and initiating containment strategies ahead of failure and coordinating with field teams and control centres to deploy resources pre-emptively.
- Operational Coordination: Experience in liaising with mobile plant teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure rapid deployment
- Proven experience in environmental management, pollution control, or Wastewater/Water operations.
- Communication and Coordination: Excellent communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams are necessary.
- Relevant industrial experience
- Working with Sensitive Environments: Experience working with bathing waters, SSSI sites, or similar sensitive environments is important
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Logistical back: knowledge of the wastewater sector and available services to mitigate risk
- Ability to undertake challenging conversations and drive positive change
