Senior Construction Manager

Description

• Supports the Project Manager in ensuring compliance of project activities with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Supports Project Managers and Executives in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and other sales and marketing documents.
• Leads field personnel to meet project goals.
• Oversees startup activities if included in the project scope.
• Oversees commissioning activities if included in the project scope.
• Accumulates, evaluates, and presents feedback information to the Project Manager and/or Project Executive regarding errors and omissions in construction documents and performance of equipment, materials, and systems.
• Assumes primary responsibility for site safety, and above all other objectives, ensures achievement of safety objectives on assigned projects.
• Supports the Project Manager in monitoring and reporting project costs.

• Ensures achievement of corporate goals for assigned projects.
• Supports the Project Manager in the development and maintenance of project schedules, including targeted and actual activities lists, durations, and sequencing logic, and communicates this information to the project team.
• Assumes primary responsibility for all activities on assigned construction sites.
• Develops a thorough understanding of contractually required quality in design and construction, and oversees the work of subcontractors to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Facilitates communication between subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel, and produces documentation of communication between project participants. Leads and coordinates the RFI process.
• Display creativity and innovation by continually working to improve solutions, tools, methods, and service delivery system.
• Personally makes periodic site inspections and evaluations and reports on the results of those inspections. Completes daily reports of site conditions, including weather, force levels, and safety issues.
• Supports the Project Manager in the procurement and coordination of all required extra corporate project resources. Writes scopes of work and assists in the evaluation of bids and proposals.
• Receives monthly invoices, evaluates requests for payment against actual performance, negotiates payments with subcontractors, and coordinates payments with subcontractors.
• Develops working knowledge of prime contract requirements and applies knowledge to project activities.
• Works with the Project Manager to select subcontractors and vendors.
• Manages subcontractor and vendor change requests.
• Ensures projects meet applicable quality requirements.
• Manages client interactions at the site on assigned projects and promotes positive relationships.
• Completes job safety analysis documentation and other safety documentation as required by the corporate safety program.
• Supports the Project Manager in the evaluation of vendor and subcontractor invoices.
• Works with the Project Manager to conduct pre-bid walk-through and descope meetings.
• Develops a working knowledge of the project budget and identifies exceptions to the project budget throughout execution of the project.
• Supports the Project Manager in the development of change control documentation and related financial documentation. Vigorously protects corporate positions.
• Works with Document Control to ensure that all submittals are distributed, reviewed, and stored to meet project and corporate requirements. Reviews submittals as necessary to meet project requirements.
• Supports the Project Manager in the development and maintenance of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans.
• Participates in constructability reviews of design documents.
• Conducts periodic coordination meetings with trade subcontractors at the site.

Requirements

• Maintains personal competency in relevant professional areas.
• Extensive experience in Construction Management.
• Exhibit the ability to build and sustain long-term relationships of mutual value through teamwork.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent technical degree.
