  • Support of company storm restoration efforts following large storm events
  • Field support for company Biologists, Cultural Resources Specialists, and Natural Resources Permitting team as needed
  • Management of wildlife damage to human-built facilities and prevention of safety risks from wildlife interactions
  • Conservation and management of fish, wildlife, or plant populations at or adjacent to industrial facilities
  • External relationship management with relevant regulatory agencies, professional societies, educational institutions, and natural resources non-governmental organizations
  • Serve as the point of contact for the Growth and Natural Resources Team to Georgia Power's Lake Resource Offices at company hydropower projects, including management of aquatic plants, water quality, wildlife aspects of shoreline permitting, etc.
  • Management of fish, wildlife, or plant populations on behalf of federal, state, or local regulatory agencies
  • Support of Nuclear Regulatory Commission licensing and compliance studies

  • Strategic thinking related to complex issues that may require analysis of regulatory requirements and operational details
  • Working knowledge of the conservation and protection of rare, threatened, and endangered (RTE) species, particularly those identified as Species of Greatest Conservation Need
  • Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills that facilitate teamwork across business units
  • Ability to adapt to a flexible work environment, including night and weekend emergencies as needed
  • Ability to work safely outdoors in non-office environments and variable weather conditions
  • Use of job-specific vehicles, including boats, hauling/trailers, all-terrain vehicles, etc.
  • Interactions with public recreation resources, including reservoirs, wildlife management areas, aquatic vegetation, and parks
  • Research experience in or with academic institutions on fish and wildlife populations and individuals
  • Working understanding of the electric power industry is a plus
  • Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
  • Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
  • Strong conceptual knowledge of the regulatory framework guiding the management of fish and wildlife populations, e.g. Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Clean Water Act, O.C.G.A Title 27
  • Safe use of specialized sampling equipment (e.g. mist nets, electrofishers, etc.)
  • Self-directed with strong initiative and proactive approach
  • Knowledge of local populations of flora and fauna across Georgia ecoregions, including an understanding of habitat needs for various species
  • Strong verbal communication skills, both internal and external to employer
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to transmit highly technical information to nontechnical audiences or those of differing technical backgrounds
  • Must consent to a continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record
