Regional Environmental Manager - Constrution
Kiewit
One of North America’s largest construction and engineering firms delivering complex infrastructure and industrial projects.
Lead and oversee the environmental management practices/permitting compliance of construction projects in the midwest region of the US and Canada.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Oversee from a project level, our field inspections and monitoring of environmental aspects impacting the project and areas surrounding the project including water quality, underwater noise, erosion, sediment control, etc.).
Update environnmental plans.
Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.
Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities. Ensure all necessary permits are in place.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues for assigned projects and clients.
Maintain project data tracking requirements, report on environmental project status.
Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
Attend field visits with Client and regulatory agencies as required.
Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices.
Liaise with the client providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues.
Be a Subject Matter Expert for the midwest of US/Canada, and lead the environmental compliance & permitting for the construction operations for assigned projects and clients in the midwestern region.
Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management.
Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities.

Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
Regular, reliable attendance
Able to travel as necessary to project sites and to client and Kiewit offices.
Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Minimum undergraduate degree in an environmental or engineering related field.
Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
Certifications in stormwater management, corosion and sediment control, remediation, and/or Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred.
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Minimum 7+ years' experience leading environmental compliance for large scale construction projects is required. Experience doing so for EPC projects is preferred.
Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives.
