What you would be doing

Interpret and apply environmental specifications and drawings avoiding and minimizing adverse effects to the natural environment and local communities.
Develop and update environmental plans.
Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
Function as a principal technical advisor and coordinator for environmental issues.
Participate in project audits (both internal and external).
Identify, document, report and develop corrective actions for environmental incidents.
Develop and conduct environmental protection and awareness training to staff at all levels.
Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts.
Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
Liaise with environmental agencies and attend field visits with client and regulatory agencies.
Lead the environmental compliance for a project or district.
Monitor, forecast and communicate environmental costs at the project level.
Maintain project data tracking requirements.
Identify, assess and reduce environmental risks to the company.
Coordinate with relevant crews on their work locations, material needs, quantities and invoices.
Liaise with the clients; providing them design information, schedule details, quantities etc. ensuring they are aware of any unanticipated discoveries, critical permitting and compliance issues.
Perform and oversee field inspections and monitoring (water, quality, underwater noise etc.).
Prepare project and Kiewit required reports and communication of environmental risks to project management.
Identify wetland and sensitive environmental areas for protection and fencing in advance of construction activities.

Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.
Qualified Environmental Professional designation is preferred. Registered Professional Biologist (P.Biol. or equivalent).
Undergraduate degree in an environmental science or engineering field, or related.
5+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects.
Superior interpersonal skills.
Regular, reliable attendance
Strong work ethic and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
Effective and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
Work productively and meet deadlines timely
Pipeline inspection experience highly desirable.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Highly motivated and self-managed to get things done right the first time.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
