PM - Major Construction

Description

In this role, you will lead large‑scale utility infrastructure projects throughout New York, ensuring they align with corporate strategy, meet regulatory standards, and achieve operational excellence. You will supervise multi‑million‑dollar heavy‑construction initiatives and coordinate cross‑functional teams to deliver reliable substation and distribution solutions. The position requires strategic planning and execution across several contracts.

• Oversee project budgets, monitor scope, schedule, and cost performance, and initiate corrective actions.
• Approve project plans, execute contract strategies, and authorize expenditures.
• Ensure compliance with quality management processes and regulatory requirements (FERC, NERC, etc.).
• Define execution strategies, investment plans, and resource allocation for major utility projects.
• Coordinate cross‑functional teams, consultants, utilities, regulators, and major customers; lead status meetings and travel to site locations.
• Promote innovative methods, automation, and best practices to improve efficiency and quality.
• Manage procurement of external services, including bid package preparation, technical proposal analysis, and contract administration.
• Provide executive‑level updates on cost, schedule, and risk; prepare presentations for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
• Lead risk identification, mitigation planning, and reporting; maintain robust risk control systems.
• Mobilize matrixed teams to deliver projects on time and under budget; apply earned‑value analysis and financial modeling.
• Conduct contract negotiations, supplier management, and obtain siting permits.
• Utilize scheduling software and quality assurance processes; oversee construction safety and public communication.

Requirements

• Required: Bachelor’s degree and minimum five years of relevant experience; PMP certification; construction safety training.
• Preferred: Primavera proficiency; engineering degree or energy industry experience; OSHA certification; advanced degree.

Benefits

The Project Manager – Major Construction reports to the Manager of the Projects Unit and is based in Rochester, NY. This full‑time office role offers a base salary ranging from $101,000 to $132,000, dependent on experience and location, plus eligibility for bonus compensation.
