The Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations across company operations and project sites. This role supports environmental permitting, monitoring, reporting, and mitigation activities while working closely with project management, construction teams, and regulatory agencies to minimize environmental risk and ensure sustainable project execution.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations (e.g., EPA, DEP).
- Support environmental permitting and approvals for stormwater (NPDES, SWPPP), wetlands, air quality, and waste management.
- Conduct environmental inspections and site audits.
- Prepare, review, and maintain environmental plans such as SWPPP, SPCC, and Environmental Management Plans.
- Monitor erosion and sediment control measures and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate environmental sampling, monitoring, and reporting.
- Interface with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and consultants.
- Support incident investigations and develop corrective action plans.
- Assist with environmental training for field and project staff.
- Track compliance metrics and prepare management reports.
- Support environmental due diligence for new projects or acquisitions.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, biology or a related discipline, and brings at least three years of experience in environmental compliance or management, with solid knowledge of federal and state regulations and strong communication skills. Travel to project sites is required.
Preferred candidates have background in construction, EPC, energy, or infrastructure projects, familiarity with utility-scale solar, wind, or transmission, and possess OSHA 30‑Hour and HAZWOPER 40‑Hour certifications, as well as experience working with regulatory agencies.
Key competencies include environmental compliance and risk management, regulatory interpretation, technical report writing, field inspections, cross‑functional collaboration, attention to detail, and problem‑solving for corrective actions.
