The role is based on an aviation project in Ahmedabad, focusing on airport structures such as terminal buildings, ATC towers, cargo terminals, hangars, metro stations and ancillary non‑aeronautical buildings. The position will manage the implementation of design management systems and ensure they meet business, statutory, legal and contractual requirements. It also serves as an enabler for change and delivers distinctive value to clients.
The incumbent will oversee all phases of design management, coordinating with construction, commercial, programme and procurement teams. They will guide daily activities of the design management resources, act as the primary contact for client design issues, and maintain high standards of safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance. Additionally, they will support long‑term strategy development for the business unit.
- Implement and maintain design management systems to satisfy business, statutory, legal and contractual requirements.
- Enable change and drive business improvement to deliver distinctive client value.
- Oversee all design management phases and coordinate with construction, commercial, programme and procurement teams.
- Guide daily activities of design management resources and act as primary contact for client design issues.
- Ensure exceptional safety, quality, cost, programme, sustainability and compliance standards.
- Support long‑term strategy development for the function or business unit.
- Foster knowledge sharing, networking and innovation across Mace’s centres of excellence.
- Contribute to business development and work‑winning initiatives.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in architecture and have experience on projects of a similar nature. Preferred qualifications include membership of professional bodies such as RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS or CIAT, extensive delivery experience in the construction sector, and deep knowledge of building safety legislation, standards and contracts. Leadership experience, stakeholder management skills and an understanding of carbon and sustainability considerations are also essential.
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture.
- Experience delivering similar aviation or airport infrastructure projects.
- Membership of RIBA, MICE, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, CIAT or equivalent professional body.
- Extensive experience in construction sector delivery and consultancy.
- Deep understanding of building safety legislation, standards, contracts and health & safety regulations.
- Proven leadership of large, diverse teams and senior stakeholder management.
- Knowledge of carbon reduction and sustainability considerations in project delivery.
