  • Travel worldwide for product validations, product testing, supply chain integration activities, plus attendance to industry conferences and exhibitions.
  • Interface with electronics manufacturers and integrators to drive innovation and product design.
  • Is actively engaged in production of innovation disclosures relating to new technical ideas to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
  • Ensure safety work instructions are complied.
  • Is a technical authority and is able to provide technical and best practice/quality guidance to other engineers. Is actively developing specialised knowledge in their discipline to ensure they stay current with the latest technical developments, allowing them to contribute towards business strategy and policy development.
  • Adhere to all safe working procedures in accordance with instructions.
  • Ensure correct and accurate technical documentation is generated consistent with engineering policies and procedures.
  • Lead and provide the key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact.
  • Participate in the resolution of safety issues.
  • Report or resolve any non-conformances and process in a timely manner.
  • Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
  • Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Acts as a mentor and/or coach for colleagues with less experience.

  • Has knowledge of analogue electronic circuit design and development.
  • Chartered Engineer or capable of working towards professional body accreditation (E.G: IEC, CIGRE etc).
  • Has in-depth knowledge & experience of design failure mode & effect analysis., with an ability to lead DFMEA activities.
  • Has knowledge of digital electronic circuit design and development.
  • Has knowledge of electronic component selection, analysis, and qualification testing.
  • Has some knowledge and experience of firmware code development. (Preferred attribute)
  • Has knowledge of PCB layout supervision including rules & constraints.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of requirements capture principles.
  • Dynamic and proactive with ability to work on own or as part of a multi-disciplinary engineering team to resolve technical issues.
  • Has practical electronic bench testing experience.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. Able to provide technical consultation on product problems to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Has knowledge and understanding of latest technical developments in discipline. Guided by external professional practices and policies to identify, develop, evaluate and introduce engineering solutions into deign discipline to meet near term and long-range engineering needs.
  • Has some knowledge and experience of model based product development tools (MATLAB, Mathcad, LTspice). (Preferred attribute)
  • Has knowledge of HVDC.
  • Has experience of design for manufacture (DFM), test (DFT), industrialisation & design to cost.
  • Has some knowledge and experience of software code development. (Preferred attribute)
  • Able to work to deadlines with a high quality and accuracy.
  • Has experience of FPGA component selection.
  • Has experience of product verification (bench testing) and validation (integration testing) testing.
  • Has awareness of Controllership and ROHS/REACH compliance.
  • Has knowledge of component level design error testing and analysis.
  • Has experience of type testing - EMC, Environmental, Halt.
  • Able to deliver work packages to tight deadlines.
  • Use of processes, systems, methodologies and tools to manage product lifecycle challenges such as obsolescence and component lead time.
  • Has experience of maintaining legacy products including updates and improvements to extend product life span.
  • Has awareness of EHS compliance in design and engineering.
  • Strong ability of failure analysis and root cause analysis. Has the ability to lead problem solving activities having received 8D training or similar.
  • Has experience of PCB interactions within power electronics systems.
  • Has knowledge of schematic capture supervision.
  • Has a competent level of specification & technical report writing acumen.
  • Comply with the GE code of ethics and Values.
  • Has knowledge of industrial networks like Profibus, Ethernet, Passive Optical Networks (PON).
  • Has experience of electronic design for EMC.
