Perform all required safety checks (i.e., pre/post trip) including inspections of tractor/truck and trailer according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and take appropriate action as needed. Follow all DOT and company safe driving guidelines and policies.
Responsible for driving a tractor trailer or straight truck intrastate and/or interstate on local, over-the-road (OTR), and/or overnight routes to customers according to a predetermined project schedule(s).
Touch freight – may need to lift, push, or move equipment weighing an average of 40-60 pounds and as much as 100 pounds.
Comply with prescribed safety procedures or federal laws regulating waste disposal methods.
Wear common PPE (personal protective equipment such as Safety Shoes, Glasses, Gloves, Hearing Protection, and/or Hard Hats.
Ensure possession of all appropriate documentation, including registration and vehicle inspection reports.
Perform count checks and review customer invoices. Complete in an accurate and legible fashion all required paperwork associated with freight.
Inspect and ensure that tractor and trailer/freight are properly loaded, locked, and secured at all times.
Couple, uncouple, connect airlines, etc. and maneuver equipment in difficult situations such as narrow passageways and within urban areas.
Follow and commit to meet Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, efficiency, and service requirements.
Operate Electronic Log Device (ELD), ELD software, and maintain records per local, state, and federal regulations, DOT’s, and ICC’s laws as necessary.
Operate a tractor with trailer inter/intrastate to pick up and/or deliver merchandise.
Perform damage control checks and remove/reload orders according to company policy.
Sort specialized hazardous waste at landfills or disposal centers, following proper disposal procedures.
Drive diesel or gas tractors in accordance with commercial driving regulations of State Department of Transportation (DOT), US DOT, and the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC).
Verify delivery of items with customer and obtain proper signatures.
Load or unload materials into containers or onto trucks, using hoses, pumps.
Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards.
Unload damaged goods and customer returns, bring to the driver check-in and complete necessary paperwork.
Report all incidents, safety issues and/or repairs as required.
Conduct visual inspections of tractor and trailer to complete pre/post trip inspections and perform preventative maintenance checks and services of truck and trailer. Report any malfunctions to supervisor and maintenance staff.
Remove or limit contamination following emergencies involving hazardous substances.
Maintain a clean and organized tractor and trailer. Unload all equipment, materials and remove all trash as required.
