Product Development Engineer

Description

• Identify new manufacturing methods and processes, collaborate with internal and external partners, and feed information back into the design process.
• Work with cross‑functional teams (supply chain, manufacturing, production, quality) to launch new parts into production.
• Evaluate prototypes and conduct first‑article inspections, providing feedback to suppliers and the design team.
• Develop and conduct verification testing to confirm product performance, quality, and manufacturability.
• Perform product mechanical design, including component design, selection, and overall system design.
• Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assembly and part drawings, bills of materials, and specifications.
• Produce engineering documentation such as specifications, FMEAs, and FTAs.
• Travel to domestic and international suppliers to verify capabilities and evaluate prototypes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 4+ years’ experience in product development and design.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks or Onshape 3D modeling.
• Experience designing and qualifying parts using various manufacturing techniques (metal/plastic welding, forming, molding).
• Ability to create fabrication drawings and knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5‑2018).
• Experience with PLM systems and structured engineering release processes.
• Experience coordinating with suppliers and contract manufacturers (China experience a plus).
• Native proficiency in English with excellent communication skills.
• Safety‑focused and knowledgeable of regulatory requirements (UL/CSA/CE/IEC/GB&T).
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
• Working verbal proficiency in Mandarin and basic reading proficiency in Chinese (nice to have).
