Description

The Telecommunications Equipment Installer III (Lead) is responsible for installing and maintaining telecom equipment—including fiber, transport gear, and critical infrastructure—across central offices, data centers, mobile switch sites, and enterprise spaces. As a lead, the installer provides high‑quality service, may oversee junior installers, and serves as a primary customer contact throughout project execution.

All work must comply with federal and local OSHA regulations, industry consensus standards, and Circet USA’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program, with active participation in site safety and hazard analyses.

• Install superstructure components (auxiliary bars, cable trays, wire baskets) to support cabling systems.
• Cut, file, drill, and modify infrastructure using tools such as bandsaws, hammer drills, and jigsaws.
• Install data equipment cabinets, servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, and firewalls.
• Make connections and terminations to BDFBs and fuse panels.
• Identify, label, measure, and route power cables to servers and equipment while adhering to electrical safety standards.
• Identify, label, measure, and route fiber‑optic and copper cables, ensuring precise management and minimal signal loss.
• Set up power distribution units (PDUs) with redundancy and proper load balancing.
• Conduct hardware and software performance testing, documenting efficiency, reliability, and compatibility.
• Perform fiber light‑meter, CAT5/6, and volt‑ohm meter testing to verify continuity and termination quality.
• Execute test‑and‑turn‑up and integration activities for newly installed systems.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment and technical issues as they arise.
• Read and interpret detailed specifications, drawings, schematics, and method‑of‑procedure documents.
• Perform quality validation on in‑process and completed installations.
• Complete required paperwork, including expense reports, timesheets, and daily job status reports.
• Supervise less‑experienced installers and ensure successful project completion.
• Serve as primary customer contact, updating customers and local supervisors on project status.
• Collaborate with installation, engineering, and project‑management teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Adhere to OSHA regulations, industry standards, and Circet USA’s safety program, participating in site hazard analyses.

Requirements

Candidates need a high school diploma (technical or college degree preferred) and at least three years of experience with central‑office or data‑center equipment. Required knowledge includes AT&T, Telcordia, or Verizon quality standards, telecommunications hardware from vendors such as Dell, Cisco, and Ciena, and hands‑on fiber‑optic and power‑installation practices; BICSI certification is a plus.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel. Physical demands involve frequent standing, lifting up to 50 lb, and fine‑motor tasks such as labeling and routing cables.
