The position provides essential administrative and technical direction, overseeing a specific area and representing the department to ensure technical accuracy throughout all project phases. It promotes Fluor's competitiveness by delivering high‑quality services and may serve as Design Lead or handle moderate to difficult design assignments.
- Supervise and provide guidance/assistance to project designers
- Develop the most cost-effective total project solution for execution of the discipline design work
- Develop estimates and schedules, staffing requirements, progress reports, including workforce forecasts
- Establish, track, and monitor material key quantities; provide analysis and forecasts
- Develop and review specifications, including design criteria
- Participate in activities associated with equipment and material procurement, permitting, and subcontracting
- Analyze and make independent recommendations regarding solutions to problems with varying complexity in accordance with organization and/or project objectives and guidelines
- Perform advanced design calculations (lighting, raceway sizing and wire sizing, voltage drop, cable pulling, panel board and breaker sizing, and junction box sizing)

- Advanced knowledge of 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD) and 3D CAD systems and procedures
- Advanced knowledge of 3D modeling software (Hexagon Smart® 3D, etc.)
- Advanced knowledge of Fluor design guides, electrical technical practices, electrical design drawings
- Advanced knowledge of electrical design requirements (grounding/earthing, lighting, wiring, motors, conduit fill and sizing, panelboards, and hazardous locations)
- Advanced computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
- Accredited two‑year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and twenty years of work‑related experience, or a combination of education and experience equal to twenty‑two years if non‑degreed
- Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitors
- Job‑related technical knowledge necessary to complete the job
- Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines
- Ability to attend to detail and work in a time‑conscious and time‑effective manner
- Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
- Practical field experience
- Intermediate computer and software skills to include the use of word processing, e‑mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programs
