Description

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and earns $75,000‑$85,000 annually. This hybrid position blends in‑office and remote work, requiring set days at the corporate headquarters. The role is responsible for preparing accurate financial statements, supporting budget and forecasting activities, and providing operational and programmatic accounting support, including franchisee accounting.

• Prepare financial statements, analyses, and reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist in the monthly close process to ensure timely completion.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations for cash, prepaid, fixed assets, receivables, payables, and accruals.
• Post, review, and adjust journal entries and accruals.
• Generate financial reports, special project analyses, and quarterly/annual tax packages.
• Conduct monthly variance analyses of income statements and budgets.
• Support budget design and preparation.
• Compile documentation for internal and external audits.
• Participate in Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) compliance, including control testing.
• Reconcile sub‑ledger balances to the general ledger.
• Distribute the monthly financial package to the parent company.
• Train and mentor junior accounting staff.
• Attend team, department, and Goal Setting & Review meetings.
• Cross‑train on additional accounting functions as needed.
• Operate accounting software, preferably Sage, and other ERP systems.
• Analyze financial data accurately and identify discrepancies with corrective actions.
• Manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Maintain high attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies.

Requirements

The role operates in a climate‑controlled office with standard office conditions and requires reliable internet and VPN access for remote work. Up to 5% travel may be needed for meetings, events, or training. The employee must work productively with minimal supervision.

Physical demands include occasional sitting, climbing, stooping, and lifting up to 10 lb, as well as continuous computer use. Reasonable accommodations are available per ADA guidelines.

• Utilize advanced Excel features such as PivotTables, VLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
• Apply strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Have three or more years of hands‑on financial accounting experience.
• Possess broad knowledge of GAAP and SOX requirements.
• Experience with construction industry accounting is a plus.
