The Operations Supervisor – Recycling Center is responsible for supervising recycling and post‑collection activities within a division. This role oversees dispatchers, operations clerks, drivers, sorters, helpers, and equipment operators to ensure efficient center operations. The supervisor works with the Operations Manager and General Manager to implement tactical initiatives that drive functional excellence, budget achievement, and adherence to safety, environmental, regulatory, accounting, and ethical standards.
Key duties include removing unsafe conditions, partnering with maintenance to keep equipment safe and functional, and leading effective accident‑prevention programs. The supervisor ensures a culture of safety by engaging employees, provides outstanding customer service, resolves service requests and equipment breakdowns, and manages productivity goals, labor hours, and disposal expenses. Additional responsibilities involve supporting fleet maintenance, fostering a collaborative team environment, developing talent, and performing other assigned duties.
The role requires the ability to direct a large staff, a process‑ and results‑oriented mindset, and strong problem‑solving, analytical, and decision‑making skills. Collaboration, creative thinking, and ethical conduct are essential, along with proven leadership in hiring and developing high‑performance teams. A minimum of one year of lead or supervisory experience is required.
