Field Service Technician III – Nationally Recognized Experts Specialized in Transformer and Substation Apparatus Installation, Services, and Repair. At NASS, we provide the broadest set of one‑stop substation service capabilities in the country—from turnkey upgrades and asset assemblies to major repairs and testing. This includes transformers and breakers, switches, arresters, apparatus testing, comprehensive substation inspection programs, protection and control commissioning and repairs, and control cabinet engineering.
The Field Service Technician III performs routine skilled and technical support work in the inspection, repair, and maintenance of transmission and distribution substation electrical equipment. The role requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, heights, hazardous locations, wet or humid conditions, temperature extremes, fumes, traffic, electrical shock hazards, noise, and vibration.
- Travel to various customer locations, with up to 75% travel required.
- Require 5+ years of industry experience and a high school diploma or GED (supplemental electrical maintenance courses preferred).
- Hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record; CDL preferred.
- Ability to crawl, climb, stand, and lift up to 50 lb; pass a fit‑for‑duty exam.
- Available for regular overnight domestic travel, occasional international travel, flexible hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Preferred: NCCO crane certification, knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, safety awareness in power distribution facilities, ability to read electrical diagrams and metering devices, and follow oral and written directions.
