Structural Project Engineer

Description

In this role you will lead structural engineering design efforts, collaborate closely with architects and engineers, plan and coordinate tasks, mentor team members, oversee workplans, develop fees, keep project managers informed of progress, perform analysis and design, produce drawings and construction documents, act as the primary structural contact during construction administration, and engage in virtual teaming and site observations.

• Lead structural engineering design on diverse building projects.
• Collaborate with architects and multidisciplinary engineers.
• Plan, coordinate, mentor, and assign engineering tasks to team members.
• Oversee structural workplans, develop fees, and prepare marketing proposals.
• Communicate structural progress and schedule changes to the project manager.
• Perform structural analysis, calculations, design, and detailing for framing and foundation systems per code.
• Produce complete structural drawings and construction documents.
• Serve as primary structural contact during construction administration, including coordination meetings, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and site visits.
• Participate in virtual teaming and cross‑office knowledge sharing.
• Conduct construction administration and site observations.

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (master’s preferred), have 8‑10 years of experience designing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures for laboratories, healthcare, corporate, commercial, and educational facilities, and be a licensed PE and SE in California. Required knowledge includes CBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, ASIC, ACI, NDS, and related codes, proficiency with software such as ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, Enercalc, and strong planning, organization, communication, and project management skills, plus a passion for innovative design.

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• 8‑10 years of experience designing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures for labs, healthcare, corporate, commercial, and educational facilities.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) and Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) in California.
• In‑depth knowledge of CBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, ASIC, ACI, NDS, and related codes.
• Proficiency with structural analysis/design software (ETABS, SAP, SAFE, RAM, RISA, Enercalc, etc.).
• Strong planning, organizational, and project management abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, client‑meeting leadership.
• Ability to work proactively, take initiative, and adapt to diverse teams.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $100,700‑$131,400, dependent on experience, education, licensure, and skill level.
