The advisor delivers hands‑on installation expertise, training, and problem‑solving, strengthening installer capability and supporting sales teams. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, analyzing field issues, providing corrective recommendations, and documenting reports promptly. The role also involves coaching Level 1 & 2 tech reps, supporting sales events, planning test installations, and identifying local resources to enhance field service.
Shaw Industries seeks a Field Technical Installation Advisor (Flooring) to act as the on‑site technical expert for commercial and residential customers throughout the Western United States. The role blends remote work from a home office with extensive travel—typically 60–80% of the time—to dealer locations, job sites, and customer starts. Candidates must reside near a major airport in the Western region to facilitate efficient air and ground travel.
Applicants need a high school diploma or GED and at least five years of commercial flooring installation experience, with deep knowledge of resilient flooring methods, tools, and techniques. Strong public speaking, teaching, and written communication skills are required to engage a broad range of audiences. Leadership, professionalism, self‑motivation, and the ability to travel independently by air and car are essential.
Preferred experiences include sheet‑goods work, heat welding, flash coving, carpet installation, and professional certifications. Core competencies expected are building trusting relationships, coaching and supporting others, influencing stakeholders, delivering compelling communication, and exercising good judgement.
Shaw Industries, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary, leads the flooring market with a portfolio of brands serving residential, commercial, and outdoor spaces. Employees enjoy comprehensive benefits such as health, dental, vision coverage, HSA, paid time off, parental leave, employee discounts, wellness incentives, career development assistance, 401(k) retirement plan, and insurance protections.
