The Millwright will install and maintain machinery and equipment in industrial settings according to layout plans, blueprints, drawings, and written instructions. Core duties include reading schematics, dismantling and moving machines, assembling and aligning equipment such as shafts, conveyors, pumps, compressors, extruders, turbines, and blowers, and fastening components to foundations using bolts, welds, or rivets. Additional tasks may involve operating a lathe to machine parts, repairing and lubricating equipment, and participating in grouting activities for base plates.
The company is seeking a Maintenance Millwright for the Bay City, TX area. This position offers no per diem and is ideal for candidates local to the area, but requires flexibility for overtime, call‑outs, and a schedule that may change. Applicants must hold a valid driver’s license, have prior experience as a maintenance millwright, and preferably possess NCCER certification or be able to pass a craft test.
Applicants must have at least four years of relevant experience and will undergo a written pre‑employment qualification test, drug/alcohol screening, physical evaluation, and several safety orientations. Required safety equipment includes OSHA‑approved Z87 corrective eyewear, hard hats, steel‑toe boots, gloves, respirators, hearing protection, and a safety harness with lanyard, as dictated by client site requirements. All personnel must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of themselves or others in the workplace.
The role demands physical tasks such as climbing ladders, scaffolds, and structures; lifting 30‑50 lb loads; and maintaining balance while working at various elevations. Mental requirements include following standardized procedures, applying basic math, interpreting blueprints, and recognizing safety hazards. Work is performed on industrial construction sites, often outdoors, with exposure to extreme temperatures, humidity, noise, and potential chemical substances, and may involve confined or elevated areas.
