The Roads and Highways group is hiring a Civil Structures Lead to head the bridge engineering discipline across the province, overseeing large‑scale bridge and structural rehabilitation projects for public and private clients and guiding them from concept through construction.
In this senior leadership role you will provide technical direction, manage multidisciplinary teams, and act as the primary client‑facing contact, ensuring clear communication, strong stakeholder relationships, and delivery of high‑quality bridge solutions.
You will also lead project planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, drive business development through proposals and client engagement, and maintain rigorous quality assurance and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead design and delivery of transportation infrastructure and bridge projects from concept to construction.
- Provide technical direction and oversight for multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Serve as primary client‑facing lead, managing stakeholder communication and relationships.
- Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering collaboration and innovation.
- Perform complex calculations, analyses, and produce detailed drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Review contractor submissions and offer on‑site construction support as needed.
- Develop and execute project plans, controlling budgets, schedules, and resources.
- Drive business development by preparing proposals, leading bids, and building client pipelines.
- Ensure all deliverables meet regulatory standards, client requirements, and Arcadis quality benchmarks.
- Identify and resolve engineering issues proactively to maintain project success.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, a P.Eng. designation in Ontario, at least ten years of progressive bridge engineering experience, and proven ability to lead and mentor teams; preferred qualifications include fifteen‑plus years of bridge design, municipal project leadership, RAQS knowledge, French proficiency, and expertise with MIDAS Civil, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office.
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a valid Ontario P.Eng. licence.
- Minimum 10 years of bridge engineering experience, including inspection, analysis, load‑rating, design, and construction.
- Demonstrated leadership and team‑mentoring capabilities.
- Prefer 15 + years of bridge design experience and municipal project leadership.
- Knowledge of RAQS requirements and eligibility for Quebec engineering designation is an asset.
- Proficiency in MIDAS Civil, AutoCAD/Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- French language proficiency considered an asset.
