The Janitor in the Operations department reports to the Janitorial Supervisor and is classified as a non-exempt position. The primary purpose of the role is to keep the premises of buildings clean and orderly.
The work environment includes exposure to wet or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high or precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme weather. Noise levels are usually loud.
Physical demands require the employee to stand, walk, sit, use hand motions, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds regularly. The job involves frequent climbing of stairs and navigating varied terrain.
Qualifications include less than a high school education or up to one month of related experience, with the ability to read and interpret safety rules, write routine reports, and speak effectively before groups. The applicant must apply common‑sense reasoning to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions and handle concrete problem situations.
