The Wind Hub Technician plays a critical role in maintaining optimal turbine performance and output at wind sites. Daily responsibilities include turbine operations, maintenance, safety compliance, quality control, and warranty repairs. The technician works closely with the Site Lead and Manager to meet contract requirements and uphold GE’s standards of excellence.
Key duties involve collaborating with site leadership to fulfill contractual obligations for both electrical and mechanical turbine components. The technician performs maintenance, repairs, and part replacements, troubleshoots complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on variable‑pitch and variable‑speed turbines, and conducts diagnostic electrical analyses. All work is documented using computer‑based service reporting, and coordination with GE’s remote operations center is required when necessary.
Minimum qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least one year of experience as a Wind Technician or two years of related hydraulic/electrical work. Candidates must pass a technical knowledge assessment, possess basic computer skills, and be able to lift 50 lb, climb towers up to 300 ft, and meet manufacturer weight limits of 300 lb with gear. Understanding of electrical schematics, technical manuals, procedures, and regulations is required.
Desired characteristics include an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical, electrical, or electronics field, or a technical certification in wind energy. Applicants should have wind turbine experience, the ability to work independently, and proficiency with hydraulic power tools, heavy equipment, and crane/rigging operations. Strong interpersonal skills for collaborating with personnel at all levels are also valued.
The position offers an hourly wage ranging from $31.68 to $42.20, with the final rate influenced by experience, education, and location. GE provides relocation assistance and the role is designated as remote, with flexibility for rotating shift schedules and on‑call duties as required by site needs.
Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage, a 24/7 health coach and employee assistance program, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions. Additional perks encompass tuition assistance, adoption assistance, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, twelve paid holidays, and two weeks of annual vacation (prorated as applicable).
