  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations
  • Principal in Charge for all transportation planning, design, and plan production for our Tennessee locations (marketing and operations)
  • Performing contract negotiations
  • Supervising the execution of work
  • Participating in and/or leading interviews
  • Lead the Quality Control/Quality Assurance process for all projects
  • Recruit, develop, and retain Tennessee roadway staff
  • Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements
  • Participate in marketing and business development
  • Serve as the lead with key client and contract management

  • Must have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules, and budgets
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
  • Experienced in DOT design methods, plan production, standards, and specifications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills
  • A minimum of 15-20 years of relevant DOT roadway design and plan production experience. (TDOT experience preferred)
  • PE is required (Tennessee PE preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proficient with OpenRoads Designer
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
