- Prepare and deliver technical presentations
- Principal in Charge for all transportation planning, design, and plan production for our Tennessee locations (marketing and operations)
- Performing contract negotiations
- Supervising the execution of work
- Participating in and/or leading interviews
- Lead the Quality Control/Quality Assurance process for all projects
- Recruit, develop, and retain Tennessee roadway staff
- Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements
- Participate in marketing and business development
- Serve as the lead with key client and contract management

- Must have proven skills in meeting DOT expectations, schedules, and budgets
- A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
- Experienced in DOT design methods, plan production, standards, and specifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
- Proven leadership, communication, mentoring, and client liaison skills
- A minimum of 15-20 years of relevant DOT roadway design and plan production experience. (TDOT experience preferred)
- PE is required (Tennessee PE preferred)
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient with OpenRoads Designer
- BS degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
