Site Civil Practice Manager

Description

The Site Civil Practice Manager will lead a team of four to six engineers, manage the practice’s business development, and oversee project delivery for commercial, residential, and municipal developments throughout South Carolina. This role combines technical design leadership with strategic growth initiatives to expand the firm’s regional presence.

• Lead business development, marketing, and strategic planning for the South Carolina site civil practice.
• Prepare proposals, defining scope, schedule, fees, and overall content.
• Act as primary client liaison for site civil projects, maintaining relationships and networking locally.
• Develop new business opportunities, focusing on existing client base.
• Serve as Senior Project Manager: set and track budgets and schedules, conduct project meetings, manage receivables, and invoice projects.
• Oversee technical engineering tasks: due diligence, research, conceptual plans, design calculations, and construction documents for grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, utilities, and roadways.
• Compile project manuals with contract documents and specifications; develop cost estimates and obtain necessary permits.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary efforts, assist with bidding and contracting, and communicate with stakeholders in project meetings.
• Supervise practice staff, including hiring, performance reviews, mentorship, conflict resolution, and daily office operations.

Requirements

We are seeking a highly motivated, licensed Professional Engineer with at least ten years of experience in site design and permitting for grading, drainage, stormwater, erosion control, and water‑sewer systems. The ideal candidate works well in teams, communicates effectively with diverse stakeholders, and is eager to grow professionally.

• Hold a B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering (ABET‑accredited) and be a SC Licensed Professional Engineer with at least 10 years of consulting experience.
• Minimum three years of project management experience; prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (O365); knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.
• Strong expertise in site/roadway layout, grading, drainage, stormwater management, utility and erosion control design.
• Ability to conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and prepare stormwater reports and project manuals.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills; ability to travel as required.
