High school or GED with the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions) and be able to carry out verbal and written instructions.
Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
Performs basic structural welding and burning operations.
Experience using power, pneumatic, hydraulic, and hand tools and shop tools such as drill press, band saw, bench grinder, and torque wrench preferred.
Training in operation of mechanical drives, hydraulic pumps and valves, pneumatics, electronics and control systems.
Ability to obtain within 6-12 months a CT C-1 collections or CT Gr 1 wastewater license or higher.
Required to work in confined spaces.
Employee Orientation, Departmental Operating Procedures, Safety, Confined Space training, OSHA and Quality Training.
Must be proficient at pipefitting.
Obtain or maintain HVAC, Electrician, Plumber’s or other trade License if assigned to that area.
Required to lift and / or operate machinery, tools, ect., weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
Six months to two years of experience in a related position with ability to comprehend specifications, blueprints and manuals.
Experience using material handling equipment, pressure gauges and precision measuring instruments.
Thorough understanding of the repair and principles of operation for: pumping devices, valves, PRVS, traps, piping systems, expansion joints, anchors.
Forklift Certification if required by site.
Ability to locate all system manholes & MLVS.
Required to wear a half face respirator or powered air respirators (PAPR) where proper safety procedures warrant their use.
Training in the use of energy management systems as needed.
Required to climb ladders, and / or stairs.
Some vocational training and mechanical aptitude preferred, with the ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, scales, panels, computer consoles and other equipment.
Required to work in hot areas.
Must consistently demonstrate the ability to learn and independently perform assigned duties and meet or exceed production and quality goals.
Required to work in all adverse conditions, both indoors and outdoors during all seasons.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints (SR drawings)
Thorough understanding of properties of steam.
Must have ability to operate Computer Maintenance Management System (software).
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
