What you would be doing

- Assist with general upkeep of labs and storerooms
- Conduct regular inventory checks and implement corrective actions
- Organise and tidy freezer storage, ensuring stock records are current
- Coordinate routine shipments and deliveries
- Manage laboratory coat collections and dry cleaning logistics
- Support the management of multiple waste streams including clinical, chemical, and recyclable materials
- Restock laboratory supplies and maintain dry ice stock
- Provide general support to colleagues and liaise with facility management teams when required
- Clean incubators according to schedule
- Perform weekly system checks on flow cytometers
- Regularly clear cardboard and plastics waste
- Receive, check in, and track new stock and reagents
- Maintain accurate stock levels of consumables and reagents
- Act as a point of contact in the absence of the Laboratory Operations Manager
- Aliquot reagents and manage sample handling as required
- Assist engineers and contractors during maintenance visits
- Support external IT contractors with checks and system updates

- Previous experience in a laboratory or operational support role is advantageous
- Strong IT skills with the ability to use spreadsheets effectively
- High attention to detail and strong numeracy
- Good communication skills and a practical, hands-on approach
- Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and within a team
- Minimum of five GCSEs (grade C/4 or above), including Combined Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
