
Develops and manufactures insulation, roofing, and fiberglass composite building materials.
The Operator I serves as the operations expert for the packaging process, coordinating duties with other packaging operators across the entire packaging area. This role ensures that the quality and quantity of packaged goods meet Owens Corning’s standards through proper set‑ups, equipment adjustments, weight distribution monitoring, and correct curing, circumference, and facing.
Key responsibilities include adhering to safety policies and EPA goals, handling start‑up and shut‑down of packaging equipment each shift, and performing regular preventative maintenance to keep machines in optimal condition. The operator conducts integrity and quality checks on every order, monitors product weights, disposes of waste safely, maintains a clean work environment, and assists in developing SOPs and reviewing batch records. Additional duties involve loading and unloading items, securing packages with fasteners, sorting, labeling, inspecting, stacking, creating daily production reports, and operating forklifts and other material‑handling machinery.
Applicants must have at least a high school diploma, be 18 years or older, and possess the legal right to work in the United States. Preferred qualifications include two years of industrial or manufacturing experience, an associate degree in a technical field, and experience operating powered equipment such as forklifts or cranes. Essential skills are strong English communication, ability to follow verbal and written instructions, knowledge of Six Sigma, TPM, and 5S practices, mechanical aptitude, and the capacity to train and coach others while delivering excellent internal and external customer service.
The position works non‑rotating 12‑hour shifts, requiring extended periods of standing and flexibility for overtime as needed. Employees must meet the physical demands of the role and pass drug screens, background checks, pre‑employment physicals, and the Work Keys assessment.
