- Lead a team of compliance managers, handling hiring, training, and performance management.
- Monitor and assist with reviews of new applicant, transfer, initial qualifying, and recertification files.
- Escalate potential compliance issues and audit recommendations to the Senior Director of Compliance.
- Review, track, and submit HUD and LIHTC audit responses to regulatory agencies, investors, and owners.
- Ensure timely submission of audit corrections and stay informed on state and local affordable‑housing regulation changes.
- Assist in drafting, implementing, and rolling out national compliance policy.
- Train staff and site teams on compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory updates.
- Monitor compliance activities at resyndications, lotteries, and lease‑ups, supporting site staff as needed.
- Coordinate third‑party file reviewers and audit proper maintenance of tenant and computer records.
- Assist with 8823 corrections, correspondence with oversight agencies, and annual reporting requirements.
- Schedule and perform on‑site audits with compliance managers, reporting findings to the Senior Director.
- Attend third‑party and internal audits as required.

Related Affordable is seeking an experienced Director of Regulatory Compliance for its Central portfolio. The remote position is open to candidates residing in Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, or Michigan and reports to the Senior Director of Compliance. The role requires autonomous work while supervising a geographically dispersed compliance team.
Ideal candidates have at least five years of supervisory experience in affordable‑housing compliance, deep knowledge of HUD Section 8 and LIHTC programs, and certifications such as COS (preferred HCCP). Strong communication, project management, data‑management, and Microsoft Office skills (advanced Excel) are essential, along with experience in lease‑ups, resyndications, and the ability to travel 25‑40%.
