Typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the work flow dictates
Drives and operates an asphalt distributor by applying specialize emulsions to roadways, which are then covered by a chip spreader
Perform pre / post shift safety inspections
Maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the road construction site, including the activities of other employees and contractors, the operation of stationary equipment, and the movement of mobile equipment
Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project
Responsible for daily and preventative maintenance such as: greasing and cleaning excess asphalt out of tanks and spray bars, etc.

Constant physical effort, including standing and siting is required during a regular work shift
Ability to work independently and effectively with others
Must be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
Must pass the background check and DOT drug screen / DOT physical
Must adhere to safety requirements and procedures
Must be able to stoop, bend, and crouch as required. Frequently walk on uneven surfaces and climb in / out of truck or on / off equipment
REQUIRED: Commercial Driver License (CDL) - A or B with N-tanker endorsement and acceptable driving record. If has X - Hazmat a plus!
Shifts may vary according to project demands, so must be able to work nights and weekends when necessary and overtime when required
Able to snap or screw on spray bars to attain required width of spay. Turn on valve to regulate flow of material at specified rate and adjust levers to adjust height of spray bar from road surface.
Ability to lift / carry on a frequent basis, 10 to 50 pounds personally
Knowledge of the machine settings to perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel, and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation.
