The opportunity involves planning, preparing and coordinating pre‑commissioning, commissioning and start‑up activities to achieve project completion. The incumbent will develop and maintain a detailed commissioning schedule, prepare or update a comprehensive commissioning manual, and establish reporting structures and accountabilities for the commissioning team. Coordination with third‑party providers, development of test procedures, correction of deficiencies, and production of compliance and progress reports in line with client and legislative requirements are also required. Liaising with government agencies for approvals, preparing client acceptance forms, and creating quality, environment and safety commissioning plans form part of the responsibilities.
Key technical impact includes installation supervision of control and protection cubicles, electrical yard equipment, power and control cables, fiber‑optic cables, reactors, capacitor filter units, distribution panels and switchgear. The role requires knowledge of protection relays and control systems (SCMS/SCADA) and involves coordinating design engineering teams, sub‑contractors, consultants, suppliers and customers to ensure smooth installation within schedule. The engineer will also handle technical coordination with sub‑suppliers, participate in FAT/SAT activities, provide on‑site technical support during commissioning, and uphold safety and integrity core values.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ECE, EEE, E&I or I&C and have at least five years of experience supervising installation of FACTS, HVDC or substation projects of 33 kV and above, preferably across India or international locations. Strong familiarity with IEC, NEC and customer‑specific standards (e.g., SEC, DEWA, North America) is preferred, as is knowledge of OHSAS procedures and safety standards. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, attention to detail and fluency in written and spoken English are essential, along with the ability to work in a multicultural environment and lead safety responsibilities on site.
