Senior Electrical Engineer - MEP

Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead electrical system design projects, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and guide junior engineers. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from concept through construction.

• Oversee construction administration tasks, including reviewing submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings.
• Manage multiple projects and ensure quality, schedule, and budget compliance.
• Prepare construction documents, calculations, reports, and cost estimates.
• Lead the design and analysis of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and emergency/standby systems.
• Collaborate closely with architects, owners, and internal mechanical, plumbing, commissioning, and energy teams.
• Conduct field surveys, site investigations, and assessments of existing systems.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers.
• Stay current with applicable codes and standards such as NEC, NYC Electrical Code, NFPA, and energy regulations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, or mission-critical facilities.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and project management skills.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SKM or ETAP, and lighting design tools.
• 7–12+ years of relevant experience in building electrical design.
