Sr Manufacturing Engineer

Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will lead the design and development of advanced automation equipment and assembly lines as the hardware portfolio scales. Working cross‑functionally with controls, mechanical, and electrical teams, the engineer will establish robust machine and process architectures and guide products from concept to full‑scale production. This position offers a rare chance to influence product design early and be deeply embedded in both product and manufacturing development.

• Lead DFM, DFx, assembly, quality, and reliability initiatives.
• Implement robust manufacturing processes, including sequencing, critical parameters, and assembly recipes.
• Collaborate with design, NPI, quality, and production teams throughout product lifecycle.
• Serve as technical lead to resolve quality and functional issues with contract manufacturers.
• Create data‑driven action plans and root‑cause analyses for continuous improvement.
• Design and validate prototype tooling and assembly equipment with third‑party builders.
• Work with equipment design engineers on in‑house equipment development.
• Oversee internal and external equipment and process development for new product introductions and scale‑up.
• Support production line ramp‑up, optimizing performance to meet takt time, yield, and labor efficiency targets.
• Conduct line balancing and capacity planning to enhance layout, equipment utilization, and throughput.
• Maintain comprehensive process documentation and participate in engineering change management.
• Mentor technicians and production associates as needed.

Requirements

The role requires on‑site work five days a week with no hybrid or remote options, and up to 20‑25% travel, including international trips.

• Drive quality, repeatability, and throughput in prototype and production.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial engineering or related field.
• 5+ years manufacturing engineering experience with DFM, process development, and high‑mix or high‑volume production.
• Hands‑on experience in injection molding, die casting, machining, assembly automation, potting, winding, soldering, laser, or adhesion processes.
• Experience in large‑scale capital equipment design projects from quotation to FAT, SAT, or SOP.
• Background in concept‑to‑production equipment development.
• Skilled in data collection and analysis for process development.
• Ability to lead cross‑functional projects and vendor engagements.
• Strong problem‑solving and data‑driven mindset.
• Familiarity with OEE, CP, CPK, PFMEA, DOE, root‑cause analysis, and SPC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in Agile environments, Scrum, and tools like Jira.
• Willingness to travel 20‑25% internationally.
• Proficiency in CAD software (3DX, CATIA, NX, SolidWorks, Creo) for mechanical design.
• Experience with DFM/DFA methodologies.
• Knowledge of GD&T and its impact on manufacturability.
• Understanding of motion control, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensors.
• Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematics.
• Power electronics assembly experience in energy, automotive, aerospace, semiconductor, or consumer electronics.
• Experience improving Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE).
