Description

This position is responsible for performing accounting processes related to general accounting (expenses and balance sheet) within the Enterprise Service Center (ESC). It supports a team in their interactions with Accounting Managers and internal stakeholders, ensures that software and other tools are available and functional to efficiently process accounting tasks, and maintains strong internal controls to safeguard ABM Industries' assets. The role also manages processing of cash, bank, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, commissions and other expense records, ensures timely accounting training, monitors benchmarks, and escalates process improvements to support management.

The role involves collaborating with Operations and Field Managers on expense inquiries, analyzing expense dashboards for variances, and compiling the Tax Year End Schedule package for tax reporting. It prepares reconciliations for various accounts, supports documentation for internal and external reporting, and works with Accounting leadership to maintain Record-to-Report process flows.

The position supports month‑end and year‑end close activities, including accruals, reclassifications and adjustments, and drives process improvements across the Record‑to‑Report cycle. It also engages in cross‑training, maintains systems, policies and procedures, and fosters a service‑oriented culture through communication with field operations, ESC teams, and partners such as Source‑to‑Pay, FP&A, IT, HR, and Internal Audit.

• Review expense dashboards (credit card, utilities, etc.) to analyze month‑over‑month variances versus budget/forecast and collaborate with Operations/Field.
• Support Operations/Field Managers with accounts payable, prepaid expenses, commissions inquiries and provide relevant financial analysis.
• Compile the Tax Year End Schedule (YES) package by gathering financial data and documentation for tax reporting.
• Prepare reconciliations for cash, bank, accounts payable, prepaid expenses, commissions, and other expense accounts, and process related financial transactions for monthly statements.
• Maintain schedules and supporting documentation for management, internal/external reporting, auditors, and SOX compliance.
• Work with Accounting leadership to ensure Record‑to‑Report process flows and accountabilities are maintained.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close activities, including accruals, reclassifications and adjustments, meeting deadlines accurately.
• Drive and manage process improvements across Record‑to‑Report processes with relevant teams.
• Participate in cross‑training and flexibly assist staff as needed.
• Maintain systems, policies and procedures to adhere to company guidelines and accounting standards.
• Foster a service culture by developing relationships with field operations, ESC teams, and partners (Source‑to‑Pay, FP&A, IT, HR, Internal Audit) and ensure two‑way communication.
• Support robust communication plans and provide routine insights to counterparts, clients, and stakeholders.
• Assist with quarter and year‑end audit requests.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline and have 2‑3 years of Record‑to‑Report and general accounting experience in a Shared Services environment. Required skills include proficiency with Oracle Cloud Finance modules, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), and an understanding of GAAP.
