The Configuration Control Specialist reports to the Sr. Manager, Planning & Configuration and is responsible for implementing established configuration management disciplines across multiple projects to ensure compliance with contract requirements and procedural standards.
Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining material master data and bills of materials (BOMs) in the LN Infor ERP system, developing BOM structures that reflect product and unit relationships, preparing and updating item master information using PLM, and ensuring accurate part numbers and attributes. The role also coordinates revisions to shop and planned orders to implement engineering change orders (ECOs), processes released engineering documentation, adjusts effective dates as needed, manages changes through production, and maintains master routing to align dates.
The position requires strong written and oral communication skills, the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints, knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain principles, and proven ability to meet deadlines while multitasking on multiple projects. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment are also essential.
Education requirements include an associate's degree (or equivalent) in a technical discipline such as Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technology, with military training or technical work experience acceptable in lieu of a degree. A bachelor's degree in a similar field is preferred.
Minimum qualifications are three years of experience with ERP/MRP systems, three years creating BOMs, and three years in a formal configuration management role. Preferred qualifications include seven or more years in product development or manufacturing, five or more years in configuration management, experience with PDM systems like SolidWorks, familiarity with LN Infor, and knowledge of BIM tools such as Revit.
Physical demands consist mainly of desk work (80‑95% of the time) with occasional lifting of up to ten pounds, as well as standard office activities requiring visual acuity, manual dexterity, and the ability to sit, stoop, bend and perform repetitive motions.
