Description

• Produce and review technical details to ensure compliance with Passivhaus requirements (airtightness, thermal bridging, building fabric performance).
• Provide sustainability-driven guidance across RIBA Stages 2–5.
• Work collaboratively with internal design teams, engineers, and external consultants.
• Develop detailed energy modelling using PHPP (Passivhaus Planning Package).
• Support practice-wide sustainability initiatives and contribute to knowledge sharing.
• Lead or contribute to the design and delivery of Passivhaus and ultra-low-energy projects.
• Remain up to date with evolving Passivhaus standards, technologies, and UK building regulations.
• Oversee the Passivhaus certification process on relevant projects.

Requirements

We are seeking an experienced Passivhaus Architect to join our client’s London studio. The successful candidate will play a key role in embedding Passivhaus principles across project stages, contributing design and technical expertise to deliver high-performance, low-energy buildings.

• Strong Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite skills.
• Demonstrable experience working on Passivhaus or ultra-low-energy projects.
• Prior experience within a UK architectural practice.
• Experience delivering projects through multiple RIBA stages.
• Strong technical design skills with an excellent understanding of building physics.
• Qualified Architect with 3–5+ years of post-qualification experience.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Proficiency in PHPP software.
• Certified Passivhaus Designer or Certified Passivhaus Consultant.
• Experience with on-site supervision relating to airtightness and construction quality.
• Clear communicator able to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Able to manage deadlines and work autonomously when required.
• Knowledge of LETI, RIBA 2030, and net-zero carbon frameworks.

Benefits

Salary: £48,000 – £62,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Location: London (Hybrid: 3 days in-office, 2 days from home)
