What you would be doing

- Assist with operation and maintenance of vacuum excavation truck
- Train field staff and reinforce standards
- Collaborate with project managers to develop work plans, schedules, and budgets
- Implement quality control procedures to ensure accuracy and completeness of SUE data
- Exercise extreme caution near utility facilities and follow all job site safety protocols
- Follow Geomatics department guidelines and standards
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with clients, utility owners, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders
- Designate existing utilities using electromagnetic and geophysical technologies
- Provide QA/QC on SUE projects
- Visit project sites to identify and verify project limits
- Collect field data accurately and efficiently, and deliver to CAD
- Use advanced geophysical equipment and technologies to locate and map underground utilities
- Maintain updated knowledge of innovative SUE technologies and techniques
- Read and interpret utility records, survey drawings, and highway design plans
- Lead and manage SUE field teams, providing guidance, training, and mentorship
- Utilize ground penetrating radar and other geophysical methods for utility detection
- Operate company equipment to accurately locate and identify subsurface utilities
- Enforce company safety policies and procedures
- Organize field work and direct crew members
- Oversee field operations including utility designation, vacuum excavation, mapping, and data collection
- Maintain a safe and respectful work environment

- Must be able to stand or walk 8–12 hours per day
- High School diploma or GED required
- Willingness to travel and work on vacuum excavation trucks
- Minimum 2 years of survey experience
- 5+ years of progressive experience in the SUE industry
- Right to Work (English/Spanish)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team
- Strong technical and behavioral traits: detail-oriented, methodical, honest, adaptable, and consistent
- Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
- Must pass a drug test
- Proficient with EM, survey, and GPR locating equipment
- Physical abilities required: seeing, smelling, hearing, talking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, crawling, reaching, grasping, sitting, standing, walking
- Working knowledge of conventional and GPS survey equipment
- Strong analytical, goal-driven, and problem-solving skills
- E-Verify (English/Spanish)
- Frequent use of hands for typing, grasping, and repetitive motion
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record
- Weekend, overtime, overnight work, and travel may be required
- Long-term standing and frequent walking required
- Skilled in reading utility as-built/schematic records
- Outdoor work in varying environmental conditions
