The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for managing project documentation and supporting the Project Manager in all aspects of cost control, quality assurance, scheduling, and safety. This role plays a key part in helping project teams obtain, evaluate, coordinate, and distribute the information and approvals necessary to deliver projects on time, within budget, safely, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Engineer builds and maintains strong working relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors. All daily activities are performed in alignment with the company’s mission, vision, and core values.
The Project Engineer manages and expedites all project information, creating filing systems and logs for submittals, RFIs, ASIs, CCDs, field orders, and record drawings, and ensures timely distribution and proper storage in the project management database. They lead the submittal process, review submissions, track approvals, and coordinate procurement to meet quality and schedule goals, and they oversee the RFI process, evaluating cost and schedule impacts and mitigating risks with the project team.
Supporting the Project Manager, the Engineer assists with budgeting, forecasting, cost control, change management, and monthly invoicing for subcontractors, suppliers, and client billings. They coordinate project closeout activities, including as‑built drawings, owner training, and punch‑list completion, attend and document project meetings, and provide field supervision support. They uphold CPPI’s mission and values, proactively identify risks, ensure compliance, model leadership, mentor junior staff, and participate in training and company functions. Additional duties are performed as assigned.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship and hold a valid driver’s license. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though relevant experience is acceptable. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong written and verbal communication, detail‑orientation, organizational and time‑management abilities, and excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills are required. Understanding of plans and schematics, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, advanced critical‑thinking and judgment, and flexibility to work varying hours are also essential.
