The Class C Lineman is an entry‑level position responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical distribution systems. Work is performed at various locations and may require out‑of‑state travel based on customer demands.
- Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead lines safely.
- String overhead wire and set poles and anchors.
- Assist with installation of transformers, lightning arresters, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
- Replace transformer fuses and clear faulted circuits.
- Work with energized high‑voltage systems while protecting personal and public safety.
- Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools.
- Identify primary and secondary voltages, recognize induced voltage, and check transformer voltage.

The role demands regular standing, walking, climbing, and handling of tools, with the ability to lift over 50 lb and work in inclement weather. Employees are frequently exposed to fumes, noise, vibration, and extreme outdoor conditions.
The position may require long‑distance travel on short notice and flexible scheduling, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience and ability to perform rigorous physical labor.
- Experience with single‑phase transformer installation and hook‑up.
- Competent in pole setting, climbing structures, and working at heights or confined spaces.
- Proficient in PPE use, rubber‑goods inspection, lineman knots, hand‑line making, and use of Kellum grips.
- Understand grounding procedures and proper equipment set‑up.
- Ability to travel long distances on short notice and work extended periods in various locations.
- Possess or be eligible for a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Capable of lifting over 50 lb and working outdoors in inclement weather.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
