The Financial Economic Crime Risk Specialist assesses customer compliance risk to prevent fraud, money laundering, terrorist financing, sanction breaches, and reputational risk, performing due diligence in line with regulatory requirements and company policies.
Day‑to‑day duties include reviewing KYC information, evaluating structure and transaction risk, validating source of funds, conducting adverse‑news searches, confirming compliance risk ratings, handling Politically Exposed Persons alerts, identifying process improvements, and collaborating with front‑end teams to resolve risk rating issues, as well as supporting simplified due diligence, asset‑management invoices, orphaned cases, and escalating enhanced due diligence matters.
The role also supports implementation, maintenance, and updates of the Canada customer portfolio to align with evolving Canadian regulations; bilingual French/English skills are desirable but not required, and the position can be remote within the United States.
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in business or legal studies (or equivalent experience), have 1‑3 years of financial services or banking compliance experience, possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, be proficient in Excel and Word, and have solid internet‑navigation abilities; knowledge of Pega software is a plus.
