The role reports to the Water Science group lead and supports the taxonomic laboratory in Gainesville, Florida, by processing macroinvertebrate samples as part of the water service line group.
WSP has a permanent employment opportunity for a Senior Macroinvertebrate Taxonomist in Florida. The successful candidate will join the water service line team working on marine and freshwater macroinvertebrate samples and must have more than five years of taxonomic identification experience.
The position requires a solid technical or academic background, preferably with experience in Florida’s marine and freshwater macroinvertebrates. Candidates should hold a Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or a related discipline and possess knowledge of benthic macroinvertebrate taxonomy, aquatic habitat assessment, and relevant FDEP standard operating procedures.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, strong oral and written communication skills, and the ability to prepare reports and proposals are essential. Project management experience is preferred but not required.
