The Construction Fiber Supervisor role focuses on outside‑plant fiber installation for fiber‑to‑the‑home projects. The supervisor is accountable for safe, high‑quality, on‑schedule, and cost‑effective project execution, including overseeing in‑house and subcontractor crews, allocating resources, and making splicing decisions in line with division policies and contractual commitments. The position also ensures proper material and scope rake‑offs, reconciles splicing activities, and manages scope changes during construction.
Key responsibilities include serving as the single point of contact between the Fiber Manager and splicing teams, providing oversight of construction execution, managing subcontractor relationships, and taking corrective action when needed. The supervisor develops detailed material rake‑offs and scope‑of‑services lists from RFDSs and engineered drawings, tracks material delivery, schedules construction activities, and drives completion to meet budget and timeline expectations. Regular reporting of project status and performance data to management, as well as identifying improvement opportunities, are also required.
Work is performed in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions, requiring physical tasks such as lifting and carrying 50–60 lb frequently, standing, walking, climbing, bending, twisting, and occasional long drives to remote sites. Workers may be exposed to odors, gases, dust, dirt, and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud.
