Candidates must have professional archaeological experience in North Carolina and a master’s degree in anthropology, archaeology, or a closely related field. An active Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) membership or equivalent qualification under 36 CFR Part 61 is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office, ArcGIS, and GPS equipment. A valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one) is also necessary.
The position requires a mix of field and office work, including long periods of standing, walking, and climbing, as well as the ability to lift up to 30 lb frequently and 50 lb occasionally. Travel throughout the southeastern United States, including weekends, overtime, and overnight assignments, is expected. Office duties involve repetitive motions such as typing and using a computer screen for extended periods.
