The Maintenance Technician B works under the direct supervision of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to perform repair and maintenance on both diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. This includes chassis components, vehicle refuse bodies, control, hydraulic, and electrical systems, air brake systems, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. Technicians also handle basic tire work and benefit from working on a single fleet equipped with state‑of‑the‑art technology.
The role requires a solid working knowledge of vehicle components and the ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance both on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities include chassis repair, refuse‑body systems maintenance, engine work, suspension, drivetrain, steering, heating and air conditioning, as well as welding and fabrication. Technicians provide safe road service, diagnose malfunctions with electronic tools, and complete required company training programs.
Candidates should understand work‑order labor standards and have experience with light to heavy‑duty trucks, aircraft, or ships. ASE certifications and a Commercial Driver’s License are advantageous but not required; a valid driver’s license is mandatory. A minimum of one year of relevant experience or graduation from an accredited automotive program within three months is expected, along with the ability to inspect various heavy‑truck systems with limited supervision.
