The Terminal Operator is responsible for operating equipment to load and unload cement, taking and tracking customer orders, monitoring inventory, generating reports, and performing maintenance activities on the equipment.
- Load and unload cement using rail car mover, front‑end loader, and computer systems safely and efficiently.
- Take customer orders over the phone accurately and courteously.
- Manually track inventory and produce required reports.
- Perform preventative and regular equipment maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and maintain accurate records.
- Keep the terminal and associated buildings clean.
- Follow CalPortland and WorkSafe safety rules and procedures.
- Complete daily checks on all received and shipped tickets.
- Communicate professionally with co‑workers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Apply mechanical knowledge for oil changes, equipment inspections, belt alignments, and preventive maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Candidates must pass a pre‑employment physical, drug/alcohol screening, and background check, with some positions subject to ongoing FMCSA‑regulated testing.
- Use computer applications such as Excel, Word, SAP, and HMI systems.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Meet physical requirements including climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting up to 50 lb.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Preferred: possess welding skills.
