Field Service Engineer - Automation Industry

Description

In this role you will keep automation projects moving by partnering with system integrators and manufacturers to ensure flawless operation. Responsibilities include supporting data‑center startups, performing on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks, leading startup and acceptance testing for warehouse fulfillment and manufacturing systems, and collaborating with automation engineers to test, troubleshoot, and validate their solutions. You will provide clear communication to customers and project teams, working on rotating travel schedules such as 5 on/2 off, 10 on/4 off, or 14 on/7 off.

• Travel to customer sites across North America on rotating on/off schedules (e.g., 5 on/2 off).
• Perform on‑site mechanical, electrical, and control checks for data‑center and warehouse projects.
• Lead startup, checkout, and acceptance testing; troubleshoot and validate automation systems.
• Communicate progress and updates clearly to customers and project teams.

Our four‑week paid training prepares technically skilled individuals, but a basic foundation in electrical systems, programming, and communication networking is required.

We seek candidates who love travel and can handle frequent away‑from‑home rotations, have a working knowledge of electrical systems, programming, and networking, and thrive on changing plans. Strong communication, problem‑solving skills, and adaptability are essential. Applicants must live within 50 miles of a major airport (relocation assistance available), have a personal vehicle within 45 days of employment, be authorized to work in the U.S., and possess a technical degree or equivalent hands‑on experience (3+ years) in electrical, mechanical, or automation engineering.

Physical demands include walking long distances across large facilities, climbing ladders or working at heights, lifting and moving up to 50 lb, and standing, kneeling, or reaching for extended periods. Work environments may vary from construction sites to outdoor settings with hot or cold conditions, and reasonable accommodations are provided for individuals with disabilities.
