The Senior Finance Manager will sit within the operational accounting and finance organisation, reporting to the Business Line Finance Director and working closely with Business Unit leadership in the UK & Ireland. The role oversees all elements of financial performance for a business area, ensuring timely, accurate accounting and reporting in line with US, UK and IFRS standards, while serving as a trusted advisor to drive the financial plan.
- Line manage Project Finance Partner(s) and mentor project accountants.
- Partner with Business Unit leadership on finance management, reporting, planning and forecasting.
- Present financial results at monthly Business Unit leadership meetings and collaborate on actions.
- Review bid submissions per Delegations of Authority, covering pricing, working capital and risk assessments.
- Oversee project portfolio to ensure accurate budget submissions and revenue recognition.
- Attend project reviews and ensure compliance with SOX requirements.
- Drive business performance through weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual finance activities.
- Lead timely billing and cash collection via monthly WIP and AR review calls.
- Participate in monthly operational reviews to assess risks, opportunities and update the risk register.
- Act as primary contact with Controllership, FP&A, Tax, Risk & Controls, Commercial Bidding, O2C and S2P teams on key issues.
- Support the annual internal and external financial audit processes.
- Contribute to special projects and ad‑hoc finance requests.
- Analyze financial trend variances and communicate insights to management.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls per AECOM Sarbanes‑Oxley documentation.
- Manage career progression and succession planning for direct reports.
- Participate in weekly finance team calls and cascade information to Business Units and project teams.
- Provide ad‑hoc support to the Business Line Finance Director.
- Prioritize multiple duties in a fast‑paced environment and manage a regionally dispersed team.

- Possess experience in operational/commercial/controllership/FP&A environments.
- Hold a professional finance qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) – preferred but not required.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of revenue recognition and project accounting.
- Exhibit strong analytical, problem‑solving and collaborative skills.
- Show effective leadership, training and development capabilities.
- Be proactive with excellent written and verbal communication, adaptable to audience.
