The Construction Director is a senior leader responsible for driving operational excellence and strategic growth across utility‑scale solar projects. The role focuses on implementing innovative resources, creating new revenue streams, optimizing processes, and standardizing construction operations. Reporting to the Vice President, the Director provides leadership to Project Managers and senior construction staff to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with safety standards and company policies.
- Implement overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the division.
- Interview, train, plan, assign, direct work, appraise performance, reward, discipline, address complaints, and resolve problems.
- Lead, promote, and comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
- Assist the Division VP in developing and implementing the strategic plan for the business unit.
- Ensure overall profitability of the department.
- Achieve client satisfaction goals outlined in the strategic plan.
- Hire, train, and retain employees within the department.
- Develop strong relationships with key vendors, owners, and clients; confer with Safety Director on jobsite safety issues.
- Resolve conflicts such as subcontractor performance failures, material delays, contract disputes, and trade conflicts.
- Maintain open communication with staff, monitor job progress, schedules, subcontractor performance, and coordinate field operations.
- Manage and supervise Project Managers and Field Superintendents, provide performance feedback, and conduct annual appraisals.
- Correlate team members' new ideas and help implement new policies and procedures.
- Participate as a member of the divisional management team, attend staff meetings, and contribute to division success.
- Attend trade shows and conferences on management and construction topics.
- Visit job sites regularly as needed and perform other duties as requested by the Vice President of Construction.
- Take reasonable care of health and safety, adhering to Zero Injury principles.
- Read, analyze, and interpret blueprints, professional journals, technical procedures, contracts, and regulations.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and document project activities.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholders, including clients and senior management.
- Calculate figures such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Solve practical problems and handle concrete variables.
- Interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience; 10 years of construction experience.
- Solar or EPC industry experience with knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and construction management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Primavera, Viewpoint, and construction software.
