As Mail Handler, you will inspect inmate mail and parcels for contraband and generate rejection notifications.

Updates and maintains records;
Stay connected! Log in daily to your JobAps Personal Status Board to track your status and check email (including spam/junk folders) for updates and tasks.
You will also communicate with inmates about their mail, books, newspapers and parcels as well as communicate with inmate's family members about mail, books, etc.
Picks up and delivers mail at United States Post Offices;
Sorts, distributes, and routes incoming and interoffice mail;
Drives state vehicles in the delivery of United States and interagency mail;
follow oral and written instructions;
Operates automatic postage application equipment, mail inserters, and weight scales;
Provides postal service assistance to customers;
Schedules vehicle maintenance;
In this position you will also maintain legal logs, parcel logs, and other records as necessary.

Experience working with Quadient or Pitney Bowes mail equipment;
Weighs and stamps postaged, franked, or metered mail;
Knowledge of U.S. Postal Service regulations, rates, and classes of mail;
utilize computer software;
Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
A physical examination may be required.
Experience using Microsoft 365 applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.); and
perform basic arithmetic computations;

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, first shift, 37.5 hours a week, 7:00AM to 3:00PM with a half hour unpaid lunch break.
